Manufacturer of New Rescuer Product Points to Advanced Technology & Oxygen Starter
SRLD in final stages of NIOSH review and approval

CSE Corporation, one of the leading manufacturers of mining rescue respirator products in the world, announced today the brand new Self‐Rescuer Long Duration (SRLD) is in the final stages of review and approval. The product features advanced technology in a lightweight package, and boasts an oxygen starter unit designed and manufactured by the most recognized supplier of small compressed gas cylinders in the world. Additionally, CSE has gone to great lengths so that all components are supplied by US Based Vendors and Suppliers.
Following approval, CSE Corporation will begin manufacturing the device for the mining industry immediately.
The introduction of the SRLD to the regulatory review process with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) earlier this year follows extensive efforts by CSE to incorporate customer feedback on respirator products, enhance and implement significant performance improvements as well as advanced technological improvements for miner safety.
"The quality of the new SRLD is unmatched. Once in the field, it will be the smallest, lightest, fastest working unit available in its class," said Scott Shearer, President, CSE Corporation. "The development process for the new SRLD has been extensive and has spanned more than a decade and numerous prototypes, thousands of man hours and investment to develop this vital rescuer device."
The new SRLD offers a 40 percent faster production of oxygen at the start up, as well as a 10 percent total increase in oxygen production. In other words, the SRLD produces more oxygen more quickly to the miners who need it. The product also features components and parts exclusively manufactured by U.S.‐based suppliers.
"Having easy accessibility to our vendors and suppliers has been a huge improvement in the development of this new SRLD product," Shearer said. "We have partnered with Leland Limited, Inc., the world leader in production of small compressed gas sealed cylinders for supply of the starter oxygen in these new units. The unprecedented quality of this product will instill even more confidence in its dependability by the miners using it."
The new SRLD product includes an Irreversible Seal Indicator, noting breach of water vapor or moisture, as well as a Temperature Indicator, to guide miners and users upon inspection as to what units should be removed from service.
"CSE has pulled out all of the stops to develop what we know will be the best operating unit with the highest quality performance for the mining industry. This product is designed with the both miner safety and miner convenience in mind," Shearer said.
Product approval is expected within the coming weeks and manufacturing production will begin immediately.
